Cervical checks

I find these incredibly painful and intrusive. How would I be admitted into hospital/centre without them being able to check how dilated I am though? Is there any other way

Unless they can see the top of your baby’s head with you just laying with your legs spread, they need to check you cervix I’m afraid 😔 It’s not comfortable but try to breathe through it and think of something nice. Take yourself to a different place🫶🏻

I personally don’t think they need to do them. Everything can changed soooo quickly and everyone is very different. ISo I put down in my birth plan , not to even mention and when I went to MAC last night, they didn’t. For me there are more cons than pros . So I won’t be touched until MEDICALLY necessary. Just do whatever feels right for you, my love. And stand your ground. Good luck ❤️

If you don’t want a cervical check you don’t have to! I’m hopefully having a home birth and won’t be having any unless I change my mind. My midwives are happy to just observe me and let me trust my body when I feel the urge to push etc x

Some midwives are happy to just monitor your behaviour / movements / noises and make an assessment on roughly where you are likely to be. I feel the same as you about them but I did give in and have a couple during labour further on when I wasn’t sure if I was ready to push. I asked them to go very slowly and gently, and did slow breathing with my boyfriend right there slowly breathing with me and it was actually okay. But you don’t need to have many / any if you don’t want to xx
