Newborn experiences & best clothing + night-feeds advice

Hi, I'm due in spring (UK) and planning to start EC from birth. Can anyone share their experience/tips with newborns? Did you still use diapers just in case? Which clothes worked best for you? Curious about nightfeeds too. Planning to breastfeed and co-sleep. It seems they recommend 'sitting' the baby on the top hat during breastfeeding so it eliminates as soon as it's finished feeding. How did you do it? What did you have on your bedside for cleaning, etc? Thanks!

I didn’t start that early. The Go Diaper Free book has all of that information. I wish I had read it before giving birth.

I tried starting as a newborn, but my baby hated it, cried the entire time. Decided to try again at 2 months and have been able to catch a few times. On my bedside, I've been keeping a puppy pad, diapers, wipes, and a toy to keep her calm. When I tried breastfeeding on the potty, she peed all over me 😅

Hi Belen! My baby is 5 months now, I have been doing EC since 2.5 months old with him. It’s so satisfying, I love it! Catch most poos, and around 50% wees. Started with pottying after naps and feeds, then I started picking up on his cues and put him on whenever I think something is coming! I take the My Carry Potty out with me for when I’m out the house, if a bathroom isn’t near by, but I don’t worry too much about missing them out and about. Use cloth nappies during the day and disposables at night. Have tried nighttime ECing but I found it was too much and now I just potty him once when he wakes around 10pm, then again at around 5am when he does his morning poo! I think the key thing is consistency so he starts to know what to expect. Tophat potty is great for the first fews months. I have moved onto a regular potty now which my baby seems to like using!
