Potty Training Advice

Hey all! My son will be 4 in March, and we are having a hard time with potty training. We reinforce to let us know when he has to pee/poop, and tell him to go on the potty. When we leave his pull-up or underwear off, he does run to the bathroom to go on the potty. But if we keep his pull ups or underwear on, he will just go in them. And he still tells us he needs his pull ups on if he has to poop and hides to poop. We have been using positive reinforcement when he goes on the potty, and usually offer a treat after. In addition, we have been using a sticker chart (although we haven't been the best with keeping up with the sticker chart). Have any of you been having issues like this, and how have you been able to move past them? Thanks in advance! ❤️

I’m having the same problems with my two year old,the daycare worker says they send them every 30-45 minutes to sit on the potty.

@Mahalia got cha. Thank you! ❤️

This just sounds like my son. He is going to be 4 in March and will be going to pre-k in September. I tried pull ups off and underwear on but he ends up peeing in his pants and pooping in his underwear. I was having a hard time cleaning poopy underwear, so I put him back on pull-ups. I have been reinforcing the importance of being potty trained but to no avail. I am all ears and following this post if somebody has any ideas.

A thing that worked for my son who will also be 4 in March is that we let him choose his own underwear. He's really into Mario and Pokémon. That is what is on his underwear so we would tell him that Mario or pikachu doesn't want to get wet/poopy. It makes them sad. That seemed to help him. Also we made sure that his underwear fit him comfortably.

@Ayesha same. He has good days and bad days with it too. Over the weekend, he went several times in the potty, including 1 poop. But other days, he just tells us he doesn't want to go on the potty, and cries if we put him on it 😞

@Lauren I will try that. Thank you! ❤️
