Had IUD for 9 years before my baby and just went back. I have the Mirena. I had the copper one for a year, and I regretted it. It made my periods very heavy.

I had the copper one for 8 years, very painful heavy periods at the start til my body adjusted (also painful insertion) I found it excellent with long term partner.. Has anyone had one put in after childbirth and was it any less painful than before? Thanks

@Kayleigh I had it after child birth. Never had any pain but periods were long and heavy. I do not recommend it. Mirena is much better.

I had a lot of spotting and bleeding with Depo Provera. It was worse with the copper IUD (Paraguard). I still had issues with Implanon and them with Implanon paired with a low does Estrogen for the spotting. I'm on Mirena and I'm finally not bleeding constantly!

Copper for 7 years before my son was painful at the start heavy periods but it evened out after a few months painful when it was inserted also. I have another copper now got it about 10 weeks after birth not as painful going in and periods were not as heavy as the as the first time I got it in , hope that reads ok and helps x

Had Skyla iud after my son thanks to Covid I had forgotten when it was Sue to remove. And was a few years over due on removal. Had it removed no problems. And writhing the month started trying for my baby girl. Had her without a hitch. And got mirena placed after my 6 wks pp check up. Minimal placement discomfort and light periods at first till I got use to it. Now periods non existent for me. Same as Skyla but this last longer.

I had an iud (mirena) since I was 19, changed it twice before baby, and will be getting it back when I'm 6 weeks pp (3 weeks now) I mainly got it because my periods were super heavy and forgot to take the pill often. I didn't have any periods for years, it was great. Had it taken out during a colposcopy, (efficient lol) because we wanted to try to conceive, fell pregnant within 6 months!

I had the copper coil for 6 years, it was brilliant! Painful to get put in (pre baby) and I had a few painful periods but after the first 4 months everything settled and I didn’t have any issues at all! I will be getting another once I’ve finished having babies

I had a liletta iud for 3.5 years before having it removed to have my son i will be getting it back. I hated the insertion it was got awful but I went home took a nap after and everything was fine when I woke up. Had a very light period the first month didn't have a period at all after that

I am on my second copper one. My periods are heavy as hell but it's better than other birth control
