Breastfed baby suddenly refusing the bottle

Hey my little boy is 19 weeks and has been taking a bottle of expressed milk since he was 3 weeks old. Suddenly he won’t let the teat go anywhere near his mouth and screams if I try and put it in his mouth! I can trick him sometimes if I put him on the boob then switch to the bottle when he’s calmer but then he gets fussy and refuses jt again! Has anyone else had anything similar/ got any tips as I really need him to still be able to take the bottle

Hi! As a mom of 3, I can tell you that bottle refusal is common at this age, but here are a few tips:👇🏻👇🏻 Try a Different Teat by experiment with different shapes or flow rates. Check Milk temperature and ensure it’s warm enough. Try offering the bottle when your baby is relaxed, not very hungry. There’s nothing to worry about,this phase will pass with time and patience. You’re doing great! Hopefully, one of these tips helps.

That happened to me at the same week!! My LO only eat bottle and was very fussy and refusing to eat. I offered less amount more often and right now she eat very happy!

This happened to me too. I changed the teat and the bottle and my partner did the feed but nothing. Tried it at different times of day but baby boy just sat there with it in his mouth refusing to drink 😭 I had given up but will maybe try again now it’s the weekend and more time to do it as it would be nice to share just one feed a day

Perfect thank you I will try all these things!!

No advice but literally the same here at 19.5 weeks and it’s a nightmare, as that was how we were getting him to settle in his next to me, so now we’re back to co sleeping and 2hr wakes 🤦‍♀️

I read it can be something to do with their development and because they are learning lots at this age so hopefully it’s just a phase 🤞🏼

Mine started refusing the bottle at 13 weeks. He is now 18 weeks and still won’t take a bottle. We just have to put it in front of him and he screams.

@Issy 🤞🤞🤞
