Advice

Hi, I am 5 weeks and a half pregnant and I got a letter from nhs they left an appointment for nuchal scan at 12 weeks. Is that the first scan they do? Is just such a long wait 🙈. Symptoms come and go, how can I make sure I am still pregnant. I still haven’t received a call from the midwife team as well who is going to follow my pregnancy. Should I call them or just wait.

Congratulations 🥳 yes 12 weeks is the first official scan you receive on the NHS. You could choose to have a private scan at a scan clinic local to you which a lot of women choose as the wait is quite long. If you have any concerns/spotting etc you can go to your local hospital early pregnancy unit for an early scan also. Generally the midwife teams do get back to you but if concerned you could call them just to check. Sending you lots of positive vibes for your journey 💜

Yeh. But you will see the midwife first. I think my first scan is past 13 weeks this time round. But paid for 2 before. They will email you with your appointments x

This is your first scan which in the UK they wait until near the end of the 1st trimester for when baby is near fully developed. Symptoms do sometimes come and go, but it can be an anxious time so you can make contact with your early pregnancy unit and see if they can give you a 'reassurance check' this can be for women experiencing spotting or any concerns. The appointment may take some time, so private scans are also a good option (Groupon do some at discounted rates) Be sure to take your anti natal vitamins eat and drink well and stay healthy and happy! Good luck ❤️

Thank you all very much 🥰
