Thoughts on Bouncers?

Are they recommended, safe? Why was it widely used when we were babies but not as much now? I don’t feel like I want to buy one personally but I just want to hear your opinions x

I bought one second hand for £5 for my 1st around 4 months as he hated being restrained in a seat and wanted to stand all the time. We only let him use it max 15 minutes twice a day. Was especially good as he teethed really early and was good at distracting him when he was really fussy. We only used it until he started sitting unsupported around 5.5 months though so wouldn't buy one full price as they can be expensive.

They are not recommended because of the damage to the hips and how they delay the development of gross motor skills. There wasn't as much research and knowledge 20 or 30 years ago, just like next generation will think some of the things we do now are not the best choice! I'd say their occasional use is ok, but definitely not something that should be done every day.

We have and used one with my little girl . The occasional 5/10 mins to eat or even in the bathroom to shower / go toilet / get ready is fine . Obviously baby shouldn’t sleep or be in it all the time . Just research brands and if you would like to have one and keep baby in sight when in use - you definitely don’t need a very expensive one they do the same job as the £10/15 pound ones .
