I personally didn't find that my kids were occupied by screen time until they were much older, so I'd usually set them up with a snack or activity instead. like I'd give them a tray of Cheerios or whatever and let them swish them around and eat some
Miss Rachel, Super simple songs, Iplayer has the Julia Donaldson adaptions like stickman and room on the broom. Whilst baby won’t know what’s going on, they’re nice and low stimulation. Also, has musical storyland which is an orchestra and someone reading a story which is nice. These are things I’ve not minded my toddler watching but my September baby gets exposed to tv a lot more because her big sister is watching it
thanks everyone, i have to turn the tv off during the day as no matter what she’s playing with she’ll always just try and watch it no matter what’s on 🤦🏼♀️
Personally, I grew up sat in front of barney is a dinosaur , bear in the big blue house and teletubies.. I am a very healthy emotionally stable person , it did me no harm, research is great for warning of the dangers of things like tiktok , Instagram reels etc for kids, but honestly as long as you baby is loved, fed, cuddled, held , played with then your doing a great job ! Some screen time is not going to make you a bad mum xxx
@Amber i needed to hear this!! 🥰
Don’t know if this helps but my 5 month old watches whatever we are watching. I don’t find her to be overstimulated and I know shr has plenty of opportunities to play and learn and sleep etc. Sometimes she just likes to chill in her chair and watch the telly haha. I know this is frowned upon by a lot of people but as Amber said, she is loved and cuddled and played with and taken on days out etc. I don’t see that sitting infront of the tv for abit everyday at this age will hurt her but each to their own. We have enough to stress about as new parents 🫶🏻
I agree with @Amber and @Anna, my little girl will watch Mickey Mouse with her grand parents and she absolutely loves it, I don’t find that she’s over stimulated either and like Amber said we grew up on all sorts of shows. As long as she ain’t sitting infront of a TV day in day out all day long there’s honestly no harm xx
My nearly 5 month old loves deal or no deal 😬🤣
@Katie hahah mines witching hour starts half way through deal or no deal and there’s no chance she’s letting me watch the chase - i’m jel 😂😂
thanks so much @Amber @Anna @Aimee @Katie - really appreciate it!!
Ah my little ones witching hour is from 6-7 😩
My first son is 2 at the end of next month and is advanced for his age with speech and development all around, and I generally have the tv on either as background noise or simple super songs, ms Rachel etc on which are educational. Sometimes you just need it for your own sanity and that’s okay too
Too many peanut politicians here!!! Do what you feel is best for you, your children and your situation & that’s that! You don’t need ANYONES approval to do anything. I personally let my LO watch tv (rarely and on occasion) but make sure it’s very low stimulating! I always opt for his play mats & toys first. Or I put him in his rocker & play classical music 🙏🏽🤍✨
@Katie same!
It's recommended that if u do let ur child watch it should be purely educational content created by pediatricians or approved by them. So things like miss Rachel or if u want British content then miss apple is a good alternative x
