@Charley true.
My sonographer made me so little star jumps, drink something cold and come back for another try. Was yours private or nhs? Do you have any ultrasound photos you would like to share, or you can look at nub theory on google. I used to research alot as I was desperate to find out
@Elvan mine made me jump 10 times and shake my hips whilst my knees where bent lol! The photo she gave me was really bad and I was upset because there was other phoots that where so beautiful and she just gave me an image of the babies spine... of course the spine of my child is beautiful but she could have given me a better image. I tried to do the nub theory but it was difficult to decipher. She didn't seem to be too bothered on finding the gender out for me and she didn't want me speaking to my baby either when she was scanning me, she kept speaking out the anatomy conclusions. When the babies legs where spread open i was sure to have seen a scrotum, but then she moved the scanner away so it was only for a split couple of seconds.
@Elvan mine was a part of the NHS.
I’m so sorry to hear, thats awful! I would call the hospital to make a complaint and request for another appointment with different sonographer. Just mention your experience today and that you are not happy about the experience. Its not the fact that you didnt find out the gender, but the way that sonographer acted is really wrong. I definitely ask for another appointment, before you go in have a sweet snack and a cold drink, I had orange juice and a bar of nutri grain and my little boy was happily showing his boy bits x
@Elvan aw thanks for that and yeah that's a good idea! Yeah the sonographer was a little odd towards me, I did tell them I was autistic but they didn't really take it In and when they saw me with my supporter their attitude completely changed. But yes, that is super cute you have a boy and I hope your family is well :)
If you’re wanting to know the gender I’d suggest a private scan. The NHS aren’t obliged to tell you the gender as the 20 week scan is to ensure the babies health and check for any abnormalities it isn’t a gender scan. Likewise they’re not there to get cute photos of baby, just check their anatomy. Private scans are great for bonding, a much slower and friendlier experience with lots of cute photos x
@Ramona That sucks! The lady who did mine at 18 weeks did the same thing. I gave me a picture of my babies liver which I was happy for any picture but she made no attempt to actually try and see the gender. She just said his legs were crossed so we can’t see and then gave me the picture and sent me out. It was so upsetting.
You'd think genitals would be a part of the anatomy scan to make sure everything is okay and normal in that area too. So odd that they don't seem concerned about it!
@Becca they actually don't check the whole body during the anomaly scan. There's a fixed list of measurements and things to look at and they don't check every organ, mainly because they're hard or impossible to see
If the sonographer couldn’t see it then you most likely didn’t see it sorry. And it’s literally 50/50 just because you thought the baby looks like dad doesn’t mean it’s going to be a boy :)
If the sonographer said it wasn't possible to see, then it means the genitals weren't possible to see. So it's unlikely you saw a scrotum
