Switching to cows milk

My baby is 1 in 2 weeks and last couple of weeks, I have been weaning him onto cows milk, (mixing formula and milk together, slowing increasing milk and decreasing formula). He takes about 240ml in morning and again before bed. Is this too much to be giving him for cows milk? As he would have had this amount in each bottle of formula. Also, I always give him his bottle just after he wakes and his breakfast maybe 30/60 mins later, what does everyone else do? I still hold him and feed him his bottle. Should he be sipping his own milk from a cup? Should he have breakfast first? I’m so confused lol

He should still be on the formula at the moment. And milk should be the priority before they are 1. It's once their 1 u should start the switch xxx

My HV said by the time he’s 1 he should be off formula so since he is nearly 1 in 2 weeks, thought I would start it now so when he’s 1 he will be mostly taking cows milk. I just don’t know if the amount is right and the way I give the bottle before breakfast etc

That's not the NHS guidance, it states they can start having small amounts from 11 months but the majority of their intake should be breast milk or formula untill they're 1

Well he still is having formula, it’s just mixed with cows milk. I don’t think there is going to be massive harm done in starting him a couple of weeks before his first birthday. But none of this was my original question

My little girl in 1 in 2 weeks too, she has no milk in a morning just breakfast, and just has a bottle of cows milk before her nap around mid day and another before bed. She has water throughout the day from a cup that she drinks on her own but still hold her for her milk x

Cows milk is absolutely fine, I'm doing same and have done with all mine. It's completely up to you if you want to give a bottle in the morning but you could start giving a sippy cup of cows milk with or before breakfast? X

No help, but i’m in the same boat and i’m doing the same thing you’re doing! I also have the same questions and my HV told me the same thing. Especially if they’re good eaters

Everyone has different ways of doing things. What you're doing sounds totally fine, just don't get rid of the formula just yet 🙂. I've only just started introducing cows milk the last 2/3 weeks by putting it into his breakfast. My son is still drinking 4 bottles of formula 240ml, plus water in a sippy cup.(i do sometimes leave the cup in front of him in his high chair and he does have a little go trying to put it into his mouth 😆. As for breakfast I usually do breakfast first then milk after, but again...everyone is different. Your LO will eventually start holding the cup when he's ready 🙂 x
