I’m vegetarian. Just been having the usual stuff tofu, tempeh, lentils, Greek yoghurt has a decent amount of protein. Peanut butter as well. I have an aversion to eggs so can’t stomach them currently 🤮 Some meat alternatives but they are quite processed but some are pretty good! Your choice if you want to eat meat during the pregnancy but don’t feel pressured into it as you can have a healthy baby without :) x
I aheee with Helen, you can get protein from A lot of other sources. You shouldn’t have to sacrifice your comfort and morals for someone else. To add to Helens good list - Cottage cheese, hemp hearts for add boost, nuts, beans (lentils, chickpeas), quinoa, edamame.
Limit tuna and salmon. I’m not a pescatarian anymore have gone back to eating chicken but those are typically the fish to limit My suggestion if you worried is to follow vegan or vegetarian recipes. Those tend to already have a a good amount of protein in them and then you can add your fish to the dish. Sometimes I do that anyway when I need to increase protein intake cause the writer is usually making sure the dish has balanced macros and it’s easy to add meat to any dish after the fact.
I believe its large fish you have to worry about. There are lots of veggy options though that are great for protine if you're not comfortable with eating meat.
Sardines and sea bass/ sea bream are safe options. They are very low in mercury and high in omega3
It's only things like Tuna that are high in Mercury that you need to worry about, I didn't really change my diet at all. Make sure you're getting lots of things like chickpeas, falafels, beans and cheese in your diet, you'll be fine
They are concerned about mercury levels in fish, I verified with my doctor. As a pesc you should be aware already of which fish would need to be limited then; it's mostly the predatorial ones.
