@Shimaya yes I plan on calling to get him in on Monday. I more so am just wondering if anyone else has experience with this and can kinda prewarn me about what I’m gonna have to do or what the dentist is probably going to tell me
So at our original appointment to address our concerns they just did a typical cleaning & assessed the tooth but ultimately said that our actual dentist would be the one to address fixing it! (Cause it’s a family practice, but there’s one specific pediatric dentist in the practice) & we haven’t had the appointment with her yet so idk what her real plan is Our preventative plan is using fluoride toothpaste to brush his teeth & I was instructed to try when hes asleep to swipe a bit of fluoride toothpaste directly on the most effected tooth, there’s been no progression of our problem spots getting worse!
@Parker 又 thank you so much! I will start doing that up until I can get him in
I’ve just been using a kids fluoride one too btw but our dentist office said we could use a tiny bit of our adult ones 🤷♀️
Luckily not but like Parker has suggested I would start with a fluoride toothpaste. Brush twice a day (morning before breakfast to give protection for the day and last thing before bed). Cut out juice, but if you must give juice then only with a meal). The sugar/acid in fruit juice will likely be contributing to this so if you avoid it between meals it limits the number of acid attacks in the mouth. Just give water throughout the day. Obviously no sweets and chocolate and again if you feel you need to do this then only give it at a mealtime and as close as possible to the final brushing of the day. I see a lot of people on here letting their toddlers brush their own teeth. I’m not sure if you are doing this but kids need their teeth brushed by an adult until at least 6 years old. The dentist will be able to help and might put a fluoride coating on their teeth but I’m not sure if they do this with milk teeth. Good luck xx
Oh oh another tip from our dentists! Wiping your teeth with a tee shirt or a wash cloth or paper towel, is better than not trying to clean your teeth at all! Obviously not the best method, but if there’s drink or food after brushing & they fall asleep before you can brush again, you can try to sneak in n wipe em down (:
No im not sure how this comes about it happened to my cousin but I don’t think her son eats healthy foods regularly he does a lot of snack type foods maybe sweet things etc idk …my son went to the dentist at 2 for the first time but I didn’t take him for his teeth per se his teeth have always been fine I took him for what ended up being a virus /cold …but Im not taking my girls until they’re 3. My son will be going for his second time this month and at 4 we will do every 6 months I’m thinking and or once per year I’m not for sure as of yet
@Donna i appreciate this comment. I was starting to feel bad about not taking him when his first tooth came in like they suggest or at least earlier than this, he’s 2 and I’ve been planning on calling to get him scheduled soon anyways.
Regular adult toothpaste
Does the juice have added sugar? Xx
@Emily honestly I’m sure it does. We just get whatever our wic goes for
What’s wic? And yeah I understand why but it may help to maybe reduce the intake or switch to something with less/no added sugar, that may be what’s causing it. I hope it all gets sorted :) 🤍
@Emily it’s assistance for women and children’s groceries. But yeah I think reducing sugary drinks is a big thing for us too
You have to go to the dentist.
