Not yet going to wait till our son is developmentally ready he's dry through the night and he hides when doing a poo. May start if he's ready at 2 and a half

It’s best to wait till they’re ready. Can your child communicate that they have done a wee or poo? Do they understand about using the toilet etc? If not then it might end up being more stressful. Some people say they don’t need to communicate but I think that makes it an awful lot harder. We’re only planning to start potty training in the summer just as he turns 2 as with the warmer weather it will also be easier for them to be naked etc. with my daughter I found it easiest to have her little potty in the room we were in and the first few days I was giving her lots to drink and every 30 minutes taking her to the toilet or sooner if I could she she needed to or if she wanted to herself. This way I found she started to know the feeling of going for a wee and eventually she just did it herself or asked to go. There was definitely accidents in between but that’s normal. Just don’t use any nappy pull ups as that defeats the purpose. They’re supposed to feel wet to know that they have gone.

Yes we have. Was recommended the oh crap potty training method so went for that. The author has a really excellent book and lots of podcasts with helpful troubleshoots. The first podcast episode on ‘readiness’ was really eye opening. Discusses when are they competent and ready to be taught :)

@Becca I wouldn’t post these pictures, please delete them, you don’t know who’s out there and people can remove the emojis…

We have started ☺️ I did post pictures but I’ve deleted them now. @Shannon I have now, it crossed my mind after and I thought I better!
