We started putting our LO on the potty from about 6 months to get her used to it. We always made a big fuss/celebration if we was productive on there and over the last few months she's using it more and more. Her nappies are lighter and lighter and it seems like she waits until she's on the potty before peeing without us really having done anything other than sitting her on there regularly. Apparently you should hold off properly training them until they can distinguish between a wee and a poo 🤷♀️ we plan to be a bit more active with the training when we've got a stint of time off and we can have her run around nappy free for a bit 😂
Same here been doing it since 6 months ish! Sit them on it at least every time you change them to get them used to it. For my daughter it’s really obvious when she needs a poo so that’s an easy one to “catch”. I use Super Simple Songs and Cocomelon Potty songs on YouTube on my phone to get a good time sitting on the potty - otherwise she’s fidgeting to get off some times!
I'm potty training my older child this week so my 14 month old is joining in. However we've been using the potty with her since she was 8 weeks old so she's fairly familiar with it already. She wears a nappy day and night, has 2 1 hours nappy free opportunities a day, and is placed on the potty at each transition (before/after sleep, before go out, when come home, before/after eating) and every nappy change or if I notice her poo face or her sign potty. But since she can't talk, undress or dress herself, or walk to the potty yet by no means is she ready to train Personally I think unless your child can get themselves onto the toilet, remove the clothing and communicate they need to and hold their bladder/bowels and be predictable with sleep (as it's normal for children to wee while sleeping for a good few years) then I don't think they are ready to train for no nappies yet
I'm using the tiny potty method by Andrea olson. Not sure when to start. My dad just died so that's a spanner in the works and we have nursery start in April and a move in July. So maybe May. I did like Kate and Jenny and he's been doing wees and a few poos on potty since 1 year but that's elimination communication not potty training. Best to keep it to consistent times same time every day in your routine like after wakes or returning home or after being taken out of high chair. So they can expect it. Since 15mo he does all wees at home on potty. I might miss 2 per day. I try to catch poop and was really successful most days last week but now I can't pay as much attention while dealing with my dads death. I'm not giving up though and still only missing 2 wees
Following as id love tips 😊 also how do you know when they are ready??
