Sizing up on diapers

How do you know when it's time to size up the baby's diaper? My little girl is 16 weeks, just under 12lbs, and I think she's ready for size 2 but they look massive on her tiny little body.

When you start getting blow outs 😂 Or the Velcro bits become an inch and a half apart. That’s works for our girl!

We sized up when we needed more absorption 😅

Awe she is tiny! But at 12lbs, she's probably good to size up. My girl is 16 weeks and 15lbs and she's still in size 1s, but only because I want to get through all of them. I feel like when you size up, the diapers always look huge because the last size was so small.

@Molly so when the diapers started leaking?

@Melissa I hear you on wanting to get through the stash. We're running low and deciding whether to buy the bigger size... I think we will. Thx!

@Kendra if they are always leaking, then definitely size up

@Kendra honestly I don't even know my kid was a preemie and is 4 months old and just started size 1 diapers haha I think most diapers have a marker on them of where you're supposed to put the like velcro style attachment? And it'll tell you when they're too small like it has an x or something and if that's where you're at...you size up. For us she hasn't reached that for her newborn size diapers but her thighs are too chunky for the newborn size and her waist is too small for size 1 but she kept leaking with the newborn ones. She's in between sizes and as a PP mom...I feel that in my soul 🤣

My October babe is a chonk and almost 16lbs... We have been in size 2 diapers since he was 3 months because the size 1 was too small for his belly. My oldest we sized up after multiple blowouts in a row but he had a small belly so it was tough to find diapers to fit him and contain the blowouts. We liked the hello bello and rascals and friends because I find they have a smaller waist. For this chonk we use the Kirkland or Huggies because I find there is more stretch in the waist. So trying a different diaper brand may be good for you too!

Different diaper brands are slightly different sizes! We found that Huggies was a little smaller than Pampers... We were in Huggies size 2 until recently, then switched to Pampers size 3 when they had a sale. They look so big, but they are absorbing everything he throws at them, which is a LOT lol 17 weeks, 17 lbs 😊
