Midwife Visit

I was discharged from hospital today with my 6 day old little boy. The midwife said to me that a community midwife would be coming to my home tomorrow. I haven’t had any messages / phone calls. Do they just turn up at any time, or do I get some notice?

some midwife’s call and others just show up, i had a mix of midwives call and some did just turn up the ones that turned up never gave a time and the ones that called did. i hope this helps xx

This was the worst thing I feel about the aftercare, just turning up whenever with no notice!

I was discharged at 9pm and the community midwife rocked up at 9am 😂 I was just thankful my in-laws were around to let them in! My husband, baby and I were all flat out in bed 😂 So to answer your question, they just rock up

Ours just turned up…. I ended up calling at 3pm to check I’d heard correctly as we heard nothing from them since being home, then they arrived just before 3:30 🤦‍♀️

Aw congrats! Mine came unannounced. She actually rang me as she was at the wrong house (hospital gave her wrong number) and I was glad as I was doing skin to skin with baby in bed in underwear and partner had just grabbed a shower so worst timing but she happily waited at the door for a few mins for us to get sorted and was lovely about it. Think it’s just part of those first visits, if it wasn’t chaos they’d probably be worried 😅

Mine called in the morning with a time

Ours just turned up - we always found it so annoying having to be awake from 8am in case they arrived never knowing when they’d turn up 🙃

They just turn up
