Anyone who's potty trained before?

(If anyone!) Those who did an actual potty/portable potty and Those who used the actual toilet with a small seat and step, how did you find doing either method in general? Wondering which route to take! X

So my eldest is 9 and we never used a potty in the house as I didn’t want to clean it 🤣 We bought a family toilet seat (so it had 2 seats) and bought a step from Ikea. However for our and about we had a portable potty xx

@Laura did you feel there was any confusion at all between the two or just took to both ways ? X

@Paris not that I can remember but my eldest didn’t potty train until he was 2.5 yrs so maybe he had more understanding by then. I’ll do the same this time wait until about 2,5 yr old to potty train as can’t see my boy being ready until then xx

@Emily amazing! 🙌🏼 How did you start off ? What's your approach been ? Xx

@Paris she had really good poo ques and would make it obvious when she needed to go so I kinda just started there after she showed signs I just took her to the toilet to sit her on there and told her to push etc while looking at the book and we've just gone from there.. she soon realised she can pee and poo on there and I give her lots of praise and make it exciting. I also talk her through the process when I go the toilet and be like mummy had a wee, good job mummy! Wooohoo etc 😅 and just going with the flow. Taking her several times during the day but not pushing her in anyway, she's really willing to sit and try each time I've asked and she enjoys the songs and books etc :) just trying to make it as positive as possible

@Emily Aww bless her! What a little star 🌟 Be interested to see how it goes with us when we start! X

@Paris good luck! Keep us posted

Aww that's lovely my 16 mo way too scared of big toilet haha. Potty for now. Oh crap book says transition to big toilet won't be such a big deal. He likes to close the lid and clamber on top to flush it so I guess the fear won't last forever but I'm kind of glad he understands falling in would be bad as he's less likely to try to get in there as you hear about babies having accidents falling in the toilet before they know how to use it.
