Maternity Unit

Is anyone else losing trust in their maternity unit? I called today with a pain under my rib that goes into my shoulder and they didn’t bother to ask any further questions not even my name or gestation. They just told me it’s not an issue they’d deal with. I’m just feeling disappointed

Yup, so much so that I’ve now asked for a c section

It is sad. I went in last week but only because I pushed for it. That’s how I got told I had PGP. I phoned because that’s what I was told by midwife to be asked well what is the problem.

@Amy I called 111 and they told me to get in touch with the maternity unit, I called them back and they’re still refusing to see me

Luckily when I was there I saw a really nice mw - she also saw me the next day too as she was based with my consultant. Between the 2 of them, I started to feel better. My local mw I had to chase for my booking appt and for appointments after 20wks when I was supposed to be seen every fortnight - those didn’t happen til I was 28wks. It’s crazy how much strain is on the nhs. Even to get an ordinary Dr appt you need an online form, phone call and then maybe they’ll see you.

I would ring them again and make sure they are asking questions like the ones you pointed out. Tell them the information and any history you think is relevant. It’s not what you should have to do but it sounds like you’re going to have to do it as they are not asking. I would also ask them if they have any record of you ringing the two previous times as this should be recorded in your notes. Ask them why they can’t help you. If they turn you away again, ask for advice on what to do and also put in a complaint to PALS. What they are doing isn’t v helpful. Sorry you’re experiencing this. X

Unless it directly impacts baby they’re not interested. In my last pregnancy i collapsed when shopping. Luckily my husband was with me and caught me enough to make me go backwards not forward. And when I phoned they only asked if I hit my stomach and to just go home and have something to eat. I think they should be there for any concerns we have but they’re getting useless
