Standard practice for breach born babies x
My 4 year old had this, as she was an unstable lie. Her scan found she had hip dysplasia in one hip, so she had to wear a pavlik harness for 6 weeks. Obviously, I don't know if this is what they're looking at for your LO. My second daughter had a scan to check for the same thing, but all fine. And my now three week old has one booked in for later this month. The scan doesn't hurt them at all. In fact they looked fairly relaxed throughout it!
My LO had his yesterday as he was transverse (think that’s the right word!) and they just did an ultrasound on each hip it took 5 minutes and he didn’t cry 🥳 they tell you there and then if anything is wrong as you can see their hips on the screen too. Completely normal x
It’s standard for any babies which were breech or transverse
Is it normal to have to go back for a rescan and see a consultant??
Yes this may mean they just need them to take another look at something but it’s totally normal that’s what the checks are for x
My twins had to have a hip scan because of how they were positioned in the womb - it was really quick and babies weren’t bothered at all, in our case they were fine but I believe it’s to see if they need any physio or help if they have any issues with their hips due to how they were positioned in the womb x
