Reins or no reins?

My 1 year old is a runner so wondering whether reins would be acceptable? I know some people don’t like them but I think if it’s safer it shouldn’t matter🤷🏽‍♀️

Didn’t work on my runner as he’d go in the opposite direction. My youngest I had to hide them as she used them to communicate she wanted to go out. Do what suits you as a family.

Whatever you'd like to do is fine 😊 can always try it and see how you feel

I was always against them before I had a runner but I thought I’d give it a shot one day and honestly it has completely changed how I feel about getting out and about. She can’t fight to hold my hand bc I don’t need to hold her hand now and she doesn’t need to either be carried or upset for being stuck in the pram. She’s walking so much more now so it’s tiring her out more and just making life so much easier x

We just taught him where it was safe to run like a fairly empty supermarket or shopping centre and where it wasn’t. We def had a few occasions of me legging it after him, but he soon learnt.

I'm 100% getting my daughter reins. She has zero stranger danger & wants to be off. So when she can walk she is getting reins so she can have her independence but I can control how far she goes as she LOVES people and I worry she would run off to people and not listen because she doesn't listen when she wants to do something, she only listens when you're doing something together

Yes, my daughter went through a phase of needing them as she wanders off and is oblivious, we found the backpack reins to work best, as she can then pack a toy or snack in there 😂

We used the backpack type when our daughter had started walking and would just run off

Whatever you and your family need to feel and be safe is 100% acceptable.

Reins in crowded places, or walking by a road if they won’t hold hands. pram or trolley until a fenced area has been reached otherwise

You can get cute backpack ones now that seem a bit more fun. Do what you need to keep them safe

I’m not a fan of reins and never wanted to use them but here I am using them 😂 My daughter loves walking but will run off frequently and only hold my hand for a short time before she wants freedom. She’s just got too much energy to burn so for her reins work well as she can still walk fairly freely. Doesn’t stop her throwing herself to the floor in a tantrum though!!

I bought a leash backpack before my son was even born
