Botox starts to develop 2-3 weeks after the injection… give it a bit of time.

It takes 2 weeks for results to properly kick in, sometimes earlier or later depending on the person. Your practitioner should really have explained time frames to you. They should also be waiting at least two weeks before a top up!

Marta is correct. I work in derm and paitents come all the time saying this. Definitely still get the comp (if they do this) touch-up in 2 weeks!

Usually takes me 2 weeks to be fully frozen xx

She said it would take upto a week, and she said usually top up is two weeks but she wants todo it a week after so it really kicks in x

It is definitely two weeks give or take. I've been having botox at the same clinic for years. You don't want a top up within a week as you don't yet know the results of the first round and it could lead to bad/uneven/drooping results (depending on where you've had it). Doing a top up a week later "so it really kicks in" is not how it works and is a rather concerning comment!

@Hannah i had my whole forehead and the bit between the brows. Is it dangerous to have it a week later x

@Mariah I have the same areas done and it always takes almost 2 weeks to take affect. You'll gradually start noticing that the movement in your forehead becomes less. It's not dangerous but the practitioner should be taking before and after photos, record exactly how much botox went in what areas, and then evaluate when you go back (and for future appointments). I'd just ask her to wait another week. The first time I had it I thought it didn't work but 2 weeks later it had, I went back for my 2 week appointment/review and both agreed there was no need for a top up. Ask them to wait another week xx

@Mariah she could be going vacation. Definitely tell her you want two weeks as Hannah said, it can become uneven

I didn’t know this until about a week ago. It fully depends on what brand you get. I work with a plastic surgeon on his surgery days so not in clinic where injections happen. He was discussing the different brands and how they differ. I wish I had taken notes but I figured when the time comes I’ll just go to him and trust his knowledge base since he’s yet to steer me wrong. Some are going to take effect very quickly but will need to be injected again sooner while others take a bit to kick in and last longer then there’s some that fall in the middle. Talk to you healthcare provider about the product they use and research it to find out how it works and so you can determine if you want to keep using that product or switch to a different one.
