Small baby worries

Hi everyone! I’m curious to know if anyone here is currently pregnant with a small baby or has had a previous pregnancy with a small baby that went well. I’m in my first pregnancy, and at my 20-week scan, my baby girl was in the 7th percentile and weighed about 267 grams. So, I had to go back for a 22-week scan on Friday, and now she weighs about 380 grams (which is a slight increase). I’ve been reading other posts and doing some research online (I know I shouldn’t, haha), and it seems like she should be around 400 grams at the 20/21 weekly scan. So, she’s about half a week behind. From the scans, she looks very active and healthy, and there are no concerns about her brain, heart, placenta, or amniotic fluid. But I’m still a bit worried that something could go wrong, even though the doctors weren’t overly concerned themselves. They did offer me an Amniocentesis, but I declined because my results were very low for Down syndrome and other genetic conditions and there’s always a small chance of miscarriage, but I did take a blood test, and it came back negative for those results. I just wish there was something I could do to help her grow more. I’m feeling a bit anxious and would love to hear from anyone who has been through something similar or has had a successful pregnancy with a small baby.

I wouldn’t worry too much about her weight. Scans aren’t accurate at all so I wouldn’t worry. Easier said then done I know x

@Poppy Amelia thanks hun yeah definitely trying not to worry, if my bump was bigger that would probably help lol

I had low PAPP-A with both pregnancies so more at risk of low birth weight. My son was estimated to be 5 pounds at his last growth scan and was 5 pounds 7 ounces when born so not far off. I was induced at 37 weeks as his growth had slowed down. He didn't need special care and he's now almost two and absolutely massive 😂 Now got low PAPP-A again, second pregnancy. I will have growth scans from 28 weeks and will be induced at 37 weeks if they aren't happy with the growth. There's not much you can do to be honest. Are you taking aspirin? I was prescribed it to help blood flow to the placenta so speak to your midwife if you're not taking it already. Feel free to message me if you have any questions 😊 x

My monster was born at 39 weeks 4 days and was only 5lb 13oz. He was exceptionally healthy and still is!

My baby is measuring in the 5th percentile, have scans every two weeks, as long as your baby is growing every scan there is no worry! I have a condition called CHI which is causing the small baby, they can only diagnose this if you had it in a previous pregnancy as you have to biopsy the placenta.

@Kali do you mean biopsy the placenta after birth or before?

@NaNa after birth !
