I’m in the same boat, my 4 year old will on the odd occasion but wont willingly take himself, he waits for a pull up but going for a wee is absolutely fine

Does he have a toddler seat and a stool/steps where he can put his feet? Books about pooing on the toilet? For my experience, they do it when they’re ready 😩 you can help them providing a safe environment (seat and steps) and reading books etc but if they’re not emotionally ready nothing will work. My daughter has A LOT of issues with potty training (all emotional), and the hv always told us not to put pressure on her. This week she started pooing in the toilet by herself, she used to ask for a nappy, we were asking her if she wanted to try on the toilet before putting a nappy on. The other day she was sitting after peeing and told us she wanted to poo, we gave her her yoto player so she could listen to some stories and left her alone. Since then she’s always pooing in the toilet. Before that we tried everything including prizes (chocolate, toys, whatever), nothing worked.

We've only just managed to get my son to poo on the potty. He used to get so constipated he wouldn't go as it hurt and kept being sent home from school. He used to tell us he needed to go so we changed him into a pull up and he'd hide. We've had to bribe with prizes and do it in the living room on the potty behind the curtain finally at 4y2m
