Nappy bins?

I wondered if anyone is planning on getting a nappy bin? Is this any better than a normal bin for putting them in? Would a normal bin end up horribly Smelly? Want to avoid buying things for the sake of it!!

We had a nappy bin and it has basically useless and expensive to buy the bin cartridges. We ended up just putting a normal bin bag in it and just emptying it every morning. We only had the nappy bin upstairs. We used the normal black bin for when we would change in the day time

I wasn’t going to bother but found one for £15 with 4 cartridges so git one for upstairs and downstairs and really glad I did but I wouldn’t bother buying the refills just use nappy bags

We got a nappy bin free with our Amazon baby wishlist (for first baby) then bought this to refill the cassettes instead of buying the expensive refills: https://amzn.eu/d/jfV3SHf. We've still got loads of plastic left on the roll to use for second baby! I think the nappy bins do keep the smell in better than a normal bin, I expect you'd want to make sure you're emptying the bin at least once a day if you're using a normal bin.

Mines been sitting there for 2 years not being used, I actually found the nappy bin even more smelly than just popping them in nappy bags and taking downstairs when I went. X

Nah we’re not bothering with that!

Useless… pop it in a nappy bag throw it to the front door and put it in outside bin!

When I started buying things for baby I asked my two friends what is one thing they regret buying/ they didn’t actually need. Both said a Tommee Tippee nappy bin!

You can get a nappy bin with refill cartridges too if you use amazon registry, I also put some refills on my baby wishlist for family as they are pretty expensive but I didnt want the hassle of emptying a bin constantly with a newborn!

I wouldn’t bother, just seemed unnecessary to me. Could more understand if you’re in a block of flats and it’s a mission to get to the bins.

We sold ours on fb marketolace after first cartridge as seemed pointless. A small normal bin we empty regularly upstairs works better

We got a free one on FB marketplace and we do use it. We change all nappies in his nursery and get the knock off refill bags from Amazon so you can just reload a cartridge. I don't even do the twisty thing I just use it as a bin with a liner.

An actual waste of money and the cartridges are ridiculously expensive and it still smells. We just used a nappy sack and someone would take out on school runs or when partner heading to work.

We used ours quite a bit! Not forever but definitely in the early days. It’s a luxury, not totally necessary I’ll give you that but it’s definitely not bad to have

You can get a free tommee tippee nappy bin from Amazon if you spend £20 on baby products via your baby Wishlist. FYI.

You won’t put them in a dedicated bin, you’ll chuck them on the landing to take down in the morning and put wet ones in the kitchen bin and soiled ones in the wheelie bin 🤣 (this seems to naturally happen with everyone I know including myself)

We had one and it stunk it was awful! Just pop in the normal bin in a nappy bag and there’s no smell

We got the angel care on Amazon for downstairs and it's a god send. I don't buy the cartridges, I buy the loose bags and fit them in the existing cartridge. It's got the octagon shape cartridge and we can still use the loose bags. No way was I paying that price! Then I find the pack of the bags last AGES. No smell from it either. Even when it's really really full!!

We got given one so didn’t have to pay for it and honestly, we used it every night. It was useful having somewhere with a lid to shove nappies in the middle of the night without having to take them straight downstairs. We then emptied it every morning. It doesn’t specifically have to be a nappy bin though if you want somewhere upstairs for them - I’d just recommend a lid as, even when we used scented nappy bags, it helped to hide any smells 🤣

@Jo what if you don't have a wheelie bin 👀

@Charley are you in flats? What outdoor bin do you have? (A question I never thought I’d ask on peanut 😅)

We had one and it was useless.

I ended up with 2 free ones - Amazon list and somewhere else I forget now. They were an absolute god send with my eldest 2. The refills were expensive but now you can get so many dupes it’s a no brainer. Then just a pack of nappy sacks for the change bag when out and about.

We just use a carrier bag outside the back door then end of the night it gets taken out to the main bin

No need if using disposable nappies! Newborn poos don’t really smell in the same way as adult poos

@Charley Haha no way, these are new to me! Blooming seagulls 🙈

@Charley omg!
