Airplane/Car seat/Toddler

Looking for a recommendations of the easiest way to travel with toddler 19 month by plane? I just found out there is no uber with car seat in my area. How did you managed it? Which car seat to buy? Can I take it on board and let toddler sit on the seat on board? How do you notify uber driver that I plan to install car seat?

I haven’t done travel with my LO but i do know you can absolutely take your own seat as long as it passes both motor and aviation tests, usually has a sticker on the seat. Don’t forget the base as well, unless the seat allows for direct install. Most ubers don’t mind, you just let them know when they arrive and you install it yourself. It’s your responsibility to know the seat and which install works for what car and requirements (ie if you can still use latch hooks for your child’s weight or if seat belt install is required). Facebook has an amazing group of CPSTs that will probably be more helpful: Car seats for the littles Also depending on your destination, you can probably scour marketplace and find a quick seat if you choose to not bring yours. If you’re going someplace like Universal/Disney people will post car seats specifically to hand down to other travelers. Also unrelated, born and raised in East Rockaway, hi! Never seen anyone on here so close to around there before!

Doona!

@Kayla Thanks for the info, it's really helpful! I’ll definitely check the seat’s certification and make sure I have the correct install. Good tip about finding a seat on Marketplace for the trip too. And hey, small world! It’s nice to connect with someone nearby.😄👍

We brought the convertible car seat on the plane for the most recent flights. We did buy an extra ticket for the additional seat she occupied though. You have to make sure there is a sticker that says you can use the car seat on a plane. We also bought a bag to put the car seat in so it could be wheeled around the airport

I rented a car with a car seat. Not sure if you were considering that at all.

@Honey doona might not work for a 19 month old though

@Honey The Doona barely fit a 1 year old 😂

You can use a airplane certified car seat in the airplane although I only recommend if is a short flight, my toddler got uncomfortable sitting on that position and I needed to take it out and give to the flight crew lol I bought the gate check bags and checked the car seat with our luggage last time. You can bring a stroller or wagon until the airplane door. We rented a car because carrying the car seat and a stroller into places was just not realistic for us 😂

You can purchase a seat for the car seat. Have erasable markers, tablet with downloaded shows and a travel stroller that fits the car seat is the best

@Bethany hi Bethany, can you please share which seat did you buy?

@Elena it’s the Graco Extend2Fit which is lighter than the other one we have (Chicco NextFit Zip). My 19 month old is on the larger size so we have been using a convertible car seat in the car for a while now.
