@Sinead it says the ketones in the urine means that it can cross over into the placenta xx
@Samantha i’ve never heard of that! the people that did the urine test did they show any concern in regards to the ketones? Xxx
@Sinead they said that they were sending it off for cultures to look into the cause xx
@Samantha well fingers crossed it’s nothing 🤞🏻❤️ xxxx
From what I’ve been told about ketones, they should be testing your blood ketones because your urine isn’t an accurate representation of ketones in your body. Your body requires time for ketones to be flushed out so you could have a high reading in your urine but be absolutely normal in your blood. I’ve had high ketones a few times and been told this each time. I wouldn’t worry too much
@Sinead thank you xx
i wouldn’t panic, what can cause cognitive damage?? i was diagnosed with gestational diabetes a week ago, haven’t heard of any effect to the baby like that? they will tell you more when they send you for growth scan. i got tested at 28 weeks for GD after i had a growth scan which baby measured big for, it was later than they usually test but most woman they test is due to being high risk for GD already like your BMI etc. So don’t worry that they haven’t tested you for it yet, they only do it if they have concerns. If they get concerned at the growth scan, they may send you for a GTT test but depends on if they’re concerned or not xxx
