Following, my daughter is on the waiting list to be seen for sleep apnea (such a long waiting list :( ) interested to hear about it ❤️

I took lots of videos sent them to the team and phoned weekly for cancellation I was seen in 2 weeks keep pushing

@Kimberley my daughters the same!

My son had this and all I'd say is keep them topped up on medicine and plenty of rest and cuddles they be ok. My sons worn off one night and I was sleeping too and he woke screaming and I panicked. The hospital will give you medicines and usually strong ones for the first days then you can just get normal over the counter until they feel better but they heal quickly you'll be surprised. He was just a bit more groggy and sleepy which is to be expected. Hope it all goes well x

Thank you 😊

How long after did it help his sleep apnea, I'm hardly sleeping at the minute

My daughter has never slept through and snores like her dad and the teeth grinding is horrible 🙈 the doctor said her tonsils are massive so we are on a waiting list at the hospital, I might try the call for cancellations approach and pester because she’s nearly 4 lol 😂 😭

Thank you 😊

👋 paediatric nurse here, and I work in this surgical ward..dm me if you'd like to. Also, can ask the hospital if they have a play specialist that you can be referred to who can prep the child for general anaesthetic, etc. You can show her videos of it on YouTube. There are often great resources on there or on the day the play specialists are amazing at showing the child with props and picture books. I'd talk about it now as she'll know what to expect on the day. Maybe add a treat for after surgery so she has something to look forward to. A small gift or something. Please keep plenty of Paracetamol and ibuprofen at home enough for 2 weeks as needed for recovery. Can be very uncomfortable and painful. ensure the child is taking sips of water as a dry throat can cause pain to start again. Please ensure no smokers in the house or visitors who smoke as this can cause bleeding. Be strict with this.

Child will need to stay off school for 2 weeks for recovery and be away from public places etc to prevent picking up an infection. So maybe inform school now. Also if your child uses a teddy or comforter she can keep this with her for when she wakes up after surgery so there's something familiar and minimises distress before being reunited with you. Be sure to take care of yourself too and grab snacks have bf / lunch whilst child is in theatre so you're well enough as it can be a long day. Also if possible have someone with you for support it can be distressing for parents to watch child go to sleep. The staff are amazing though.

I pressed the hospitals and finally have a appointment for my girl at the end of march im so happy! Any advice on preparing for first appointment? I don’t want to waste any time being told I need to do things when I could do them now (recording sleep, sleep diary etc? )
