My first was BLW from 6 months and my second was mostly purees from 6 months till around 8-9 months old. My first did way better with solid foods and utensils faster than my second did so I wish I did blw with him too

thanks for your input! @Nevaeh

Purées at 4 months and started introducing solid solids around 6months and now at 8 months she eats normal meals with us! She loves feeding herself

awesome! thank you @Morgan

What is BLW?

baby led weaning!! @Terra

I did both with my first we did blw starting from 4 months to a year but then around 8 months I started doing both purées and blw because I was exhausted af cooking so many meals a day and she hasn’t had any issues other than allergies

sweet, thanks! also i love your name 😍 @Nala

We did both. First food was avocado, mashed lumpy, and we gave whole chunks of things like tomato and cucumber, but I also did one meal a day of baby oatmeal and then homemade purees. We gradually progressed to thicker purees and a larger variety of foods, and around 9 months when it was safer to chop them up, we started giving deconstructed variations of what we were eating for dinner and puree for breakfast or lunch. By 10 months we were on 3 meals a day, and at 12 months, three meals and at least one snack (usually smoothies). At 15 months she now eats what we eat. As far as utensils we're getting better, she uses a spoon pretty well although she hasn't figured out how to keep liquids from spilling. As far as finger foods I think it helped that early on she had pretty good fine motor control. She didn't get frustrated or overwhelmed trying to handle her food, and was doing the pincer grasp just after 7 months.

Started with purees but do BLW as well. Sometimes she won't take the purées, she wants "real food" 😅

I did both. I had my purées made of fruits or vegetables and had the meat cut up to bite size pieces or shredded then when she got to about 7/8 months I just chopped up the fruits and veggies to bite size pieces
