Moving house

Has anyone moved house with an almost two year old? We are due to move soon and I’m a little worried that it is going to unsettle him. He can be very funny about going into houses he doesn’t know well when I’ve visited friends in the past. Any tips or reassurance?

We moved in December my little boy would’ve been 19 months. He was fine, we moved everything in while he was in nursery so when we brought him home everything was familiar to him. He did have to stay at my parents that night as we didn’t have time to fully set his cot up and out curtains up but the next night he slept at home he settled straight away.

I moved as a single parent with my 19month old, so it was particularly challenging. It went well for my little ome though. I did his room last (keeping things on the wall till the morning of the move) and his was the first room together in the new place. He recognised everything and was super excited to have his toys in a new place. Just make sure he/she has time to get to explore the new place before bedtime and expect to settle them more that night. Good luck!

We’re in the same boat! We’re moving to the other side of the country in a couple weeks which means new house, new nursery and new routine (2 days with his nanny and 3 days nursery opposed to 5 days in nursery) and I am SO anxious about it! Good luck with your move xx

We moved with a 6 month old and a 16 month old and honestly it’s not as bad as you think! They soon adjust! It’s just about giving time to settle and making it super exciting! X
