Finding a dentist?

What age are babies supposed to go to the dentist? I've been trying to find a local one since my daughter started getting teeth at 6.5 months and it's literally impossible. I also need to find one for myself at the same time as I haven't been since I was 5, I'm nearly 28! Ideally I'd like to find one before my maternity exemption certificate runs out at the end of next month. The health visitor has given me a list of local ones but I can never get through to them or they just ignore emails.

Mine only saw a dentist from age 2.5 privately, because that's where my husband goes. I think unless the teeth appear to be growing in badly there's not much value in going before then anyway. My HV told me today to get them both on the NHS waiting list but I'm not getting involved with it just telling hubby to crack on as I'm already doing all the other medical appointments!

I put my son down for them when he was around 8 weeks old just so I knew his name was down….by law they have to take on babies|children. My son seen the dentist then when he was 7 months old x

I know there is no need for him to be put down yet but I just wanted to make sure he was on the list so when he’s bigger I know he will definitely be able to see a dentist x

I think your supposed to do it from when they first get teeth.. if no problems I guess it's abit pointless but it's also to get them use to/comfortable with going to the dentist. Mine has been twice only because he's been with me when I've been 🤣 in think my oldest child was around 2 when I actually first took her though

I registered my daughter at my dentist when I last went for a check up. Next check up is for both of us

I went and registered my boy when he started getting teeth at 7 months old, and he’s been again since, it’s just to get them used to it all even if the check up if quick and not much use until they’re older

My daughter went to the dentist at 10 months and the dentist said it would be good to see her every 6 months to get her used to it and to start her dental record

My dentist wouldn’t make an appointment specifically for my daughter (as no problems with her teeth) but have said to bring her to my next appointment so she can see the room etc and they may just poke in her mouth to see the teeth but that’s it! I do think you’ll struggle to get yourself in before exemption runs out unless there are dentists with no waitlist (a rarity for NHS unfortunately, many appointments are a minimum of 1-2 months ahead in lots of places)
