Anyone else’s 4.5 month old just… angry?

My boy is 4.5 month and has generally not been too “difficult” of a baby.. he hit the 4 month regression around 3ish months so night time sleep got worse, but he never had too bad of a witching hour or anything like that as a newborn. However in the last 2 weeks, it feels like he is just mad all the time. Anything I do to entertain him only works for 5 minutes tops and then he is fussing or full on screaming. We have play mats, an activity center, a baby chair, a bouncer, etc. we do tummy time, floor time, and sometimes we will go out to a store or something (currently too cold and snowy where we live for outdoor walks). He has plenty of toys. He will be happy, but then just flips to pissed off sooo quickly. He was just at the pediatrician, and I talked to his day care teachers who said he hasn’t been too fussy there, so I guess it’s just home or me/my husband that he’s bored with. I think he is unhappy that he isn’t mobile yet, but at daycare there is enough going on to distract him. Today, I’ve tried to start just letting him cry after a while because I literally feel like a circus performer trying to keep him happy constantly and I’m starting to feel soooo drained. Anyone else go through this? Tell me it’s just a phase that will end soon!!

My daughter started teething, could that be a possible problem??

My girl just turned 4 months old and we are in the same exact boat. I’ve noticed lots of drooling and chewing on fingers. I give her Tylenol and that seems to help. I’ve chalked it up to teething 🙃

I’ve definitely considered teething because he wants to aggressively chew on anything and everything.. but he has periods of being totally fine and I can’t see anything yet, so I’m not sure.

My girl has been showing sign of teething for like a month now and sleep regression. He may be extra tired, trying to learn new things and teething.

Is he grasping well? I know some babies get mad when they can’t hold something the way they want and get frustrated. But it sounds like a phase 🤞One of my apps show my baby in leap 4 (4 months in a few days) and says it is a fussy period now as he adjusts to this leaps brain development.

My little girl suddenly switches from happy/chatty to angry/overtired. I had to figure out that her being "chatty' and babbling a lot is almost always a last warning sign of sleepiness before overtired kicks in. Watching for the early signs of sleepiness and then getting her to nap/go to bed has helped.

Yes 🫠 I’ve been getting screamed at all day! Chalking it up to the sleep regression and possibly teething.

He may be the opposite bored - he could be overstimulated maybe?

@Mary it seems to be really sporadic unfortunately.. he can sometimes do a really good nap and wake up happy but then gets cranky quickly. I do think over tiredness definitely comes into play sometimes though, specifically on daycare days when I don’t have very much control over his schedule

@Hanah N. Yep, he grasps well and is hitting most milestones. He did just learn to roll, so I kind of think it’s shown him that he can move himself around but still just not as much as he wants to. I was using the wonder weeks app and we just got out of leap 4 fussy phase not long ago so I thought we were in the clear 🫠 lol

@Michelle sorry you’re going through this too, but I guess it’s nice to know I’m not the only one 🤣 hope it passes quickly for you!!

@Polly I’m sure that’s part of it! Hopefully we’ll be on to happier days soon 🤭

We are in the same boat…my baby has been a great baby so far and it’s like I can’t figure out what he is wanting. Like you said - he is content for a few minutes but after that it’s like he wants to do something but can’t tell me what he wants to do. I have found just taking him around the house to watch what I do helps a little (changes up the scenery). I’ll play music and sing to him while I do the house work or explain to him what I am doing lol. That way I don’t feel like I’m sitting in front of him trying to make him play all day!
