Checking car seat

I’ve read a lot on this group that it’s possible to check the car seat in to be stored with the main luggage. Did you take your everyday car seat or purchase a new one for travel? I’m worried that it’ll get damaged and be less effective after being thrown around in the hold and baggage claim, but I don’t really want to buy a new car seat or a crappy one for travels! Any advice welcome x

Why is it you’re taking one? If you’re going on a bus they can sit on your lap. Otherwise in Taxi’s they can sit on your lap too. Unless you’re renting a car and plan to travel a lot I don’t think they’re worth it. X

Renting a car - I heard you can get them directly from the car hire companies but sometimes they’re a bit worn out and not that great

We took the one we bought for our childminder. Jodie Steadi (rear facing & belts in)

@Laura deffo worth it then! X

We took the maxi cosi nomad away with us for emergencies which is super handy/lightweight but my ERF brain doesn’t love it compared to the beast we usually use (which is far too heavy)
