Mums who emigrated with the kids 🧳✈️🛂

When you packed up your whole life and home to move country, what were the most important things to make sure you took with you? (NOT things like passports, documents, photos etc - those are obviously first packed). Struggling to start and prioritise what comes in luggage, what gets shipped and what never makes the trip and is sold

To get rid of: Old clothes I need to admit will NEVER fit again Books I never read or planned to Plants 😭😢can’t legally take Kitchen stuff like Ikea to donate too Garden furniture Car seat (get a legal one in that new place) Old makeup palettes…why do I have naked palettes over a decade old?!

We had this discussion the other night, a few clothes, photos sentimental items, toys a few favourites. Anything else buy when we are there.

@Kath we’ve got a medium sized shipping container so we can take most of the kids stuff. I want them to feel the least disruption I guess. Beds, sofa, bookcase and drawers are being sold and things like bedding are different sizes there so useless. There’s Ikea there so most of the kitchen stuff can be donated but my mixer, kettle and some cookware are sentimental and have to come. I’ll be packing my fave mug in my hand luggage though along with Yorkshire teabags 😂 my first teddy bear too, she’s irreplaceable. I hope security don’t open the bags, it’ll be such a weird mix of stuff 😂

I sold soo much before moving to the US and made around 3k euros! It felt so good to let go of stuff that we no longer needed and it was nice to have some extra $$ to start fresh in a new country. Don’t be shy to give away stuff that’s not 100% needed 😊 less is more
