Anyone potty trained?

Looking for all the tips and tricks going 😆. I am aiming on starting when the weather gets warmer but can anyone suggest anything to make things easier? I was thinking about getting a potty that looks like our toilet?

We are in the process of doing it now, what helped us was introducing potty way before starting it so they know it’s there, we stayed home all week, let him run naked for the first couple of days, we used a sticker chart and chocolate buttons, just made a massive fuss when he managed to go on potty. Then we introduced pants which his just about understanding but now he struggles with trousers too pulling everything down in time. Be prepared for many accidents but they will get there just be patient with them x

My boys been potty trained during the day since October. I haven't potty trained him at night yet as he still wakes a lot for 'milk' (just water) so wees a lot during the night. I have 2 pottys, one that looks like a mini toilet which lives in the bathroom next to our toilet and a foldable travel potty that can also turn into a toilet seat which moves around the house with us. I started by sitting him on the mini toilet at nappy changed. Once he was consistently using it and started asking for the potty I started potty training. I did a variant of the Oh Crap potty training method. Nothing on the bottom half for the first few days, then once he was consistently using the potty I put him in loose joggers, once he had nailed that I added pants as well. I used stickers as rewards and he got to choose the sticker and stick it to his top whne he successfully used the potty. We stayed at home for the days he was naked on the bottom half and then for the first day of each new stage, then we started going out again

I’ve got the potty that looks like a toilet and to be honest it’s not great. He loves pressing the flush but it’s not overly stable. We’ve been putting our son on the actual toilet with a booster. I think we will end up getting a standard potty when we fully start training. We’re waiting till it gets a little warmer as well and when I go on mat leave as I’ll be able to give him more time.

I have booked 2 weeks annual leave in April to start potty training so following for tips. I think I’m just going to do the potter about naked approach and just be prepared for lots of accidents. Patience is key 😆

My boys not ready yet but i have two older ones who trained a few months after 2, so I can tell you what I did with them. We got a potty months earlier and practiced sitting on it, usually just before a bath. If anything happened in the potty it was a massive celebration. We read books aimed at potty training children, watched videos aimed at potty training children, we went out together and they chose their own underwear. Closer to potty training time we might have practice mornings where we wore pants and had potty in room with us. At some point each child told me they wanted to wear pants, not nappies and that was that. My eldest was dry in about a week, my second took about 3 weeks. Night time training takes longer in some children as that's hormone related. I was lucky with my two as they kinda did it themselves, im not sure how my 2yo will be but I know he's definitely not there yet, ill probably start encouraging it more in the next couple of months and aim to train in July/August.

My little boy started toilet training in January because he was desperate to and he’s smashed it in the house. He’s literally only ever had one accident when I was tickling him. We haven’t mastered out the house yet 😂 Our main problem is that my little boy only really speaks in the house so won’t communicate when we’re out and about. When we started he already knew when he was weeing/pooing in his nappy and would tell us which was a massive help. We just have him naked from the waist down and he takes himself off to the potty and tells us when he’s done it, he likes the applause haha. I would recommend a fairly basic potty so when your out and about they don’t expect to have a nice mini toilet every time, my daughter loved my Mums mini toilet one and got dead funny about using any others. Just make sure you wait until your LO is showing the signs of being ready and then it should be fairly straightforward x

Mine is potty trained and really made the difference is when I bought her underwear , she wanted to do like mummy and had her motivated to get rid of nappies 🥰
