Abroad holidays

It’s our first abroad holiday are there any essentials that people are taking? Also do you gamble and hope they give you a seat for your under 2’s on the flight or do you book an extra seat?

For us essentials were snacks, water bottles, cuddly toy and tablet for the plane. For the seat it all depends on how busy your flight is... I got one going out, but not coming back, so next time I'll definitely book it!

Depends on how big your child is. We book business class whenever we can (longer flights) just so we have the leg room and space and for overnight flights. Makes our lives easier.

I flew in October and did not get an extra seat for my little one. He was on my lap for 4+ hours and it was tough 😅. X

We booked an extra sea on the way home which was premium accompany but not on the way out as we were 1st class ( it was a 12 hr flight so she slept on the way out) Iv seen many people book isle and window and hope no one books it and if they do ask to swop one of seats but it’s risky for a long flight.

In terms of what to take, something I hadn't thought of until someone suggested it was making sure we had Calpol and ibuprofen with us just in case we needed it.

We flew when my daughter was 13m + 15m (UK-Spain, 2.5hr ish). Both trips, all flights, she was on lap. It’s exhausting, but I made the choice to save the pennies + not buy a seat. For long haul, I would def consider it. For short haul, I’d power through. Essentials: snoozeshade, travel pushchair, do you need to think about taking a travel cot and car seat etc. We took snacks, books, stickers + white noise machine on the plane.
