UC earnings

Hello, hoping someone can explain this to me, i’ve been receiving maternity allowance since may 2024 which has now stopped so I’m applying for UC - its asking me to put in my earnings for the last 12 months, do i put in my maternity allowance for the last 9 months or do i put £0 as i haven’t worked?

I believe MA is classed as unearned income. So no you didn’t earn it from work.

Maternity allowance counts as income even it’s not from a employer because uc deduct any mat allowance even if it comes from the government if you were unemployed at the time, so the answer would be no you haven’t claimed universal credit before, hope that helps x

I put down what I got from maternity allowance xx

@Molly so for each month i should put the amount received from maternity allowance not £0?

Yes I would, as that’s what I had to do when I applied for uc as it’s still counted as income even it’s not from an employer x

I put what i was recieving from maternity cause you can change your circumstances on uc to say your on maternity leave xx
