Embarrassed

I’ve started my son at football club last week. He’s 21 months old. All the other children in his group listen and follow all the instructions however he is only interested in kicking the ball and doesn’t listen to any other instructions. When all the kids are doing an activity or sat on the floor, my son is ignoring them and kicking the ball around. I have to say he doesn’t go pre school and I think most of the other kids do. Should I be worried or will he learn with time? How can I teach him? Thanks in advance

Thankyou! He is confident otherwise and interactions with his cousins etc well, but I didn’t know if this was an early sign of something else! Thanks for your comments it’s made me feel better! C

Honestly I can tell you now, when my daughter first turned 2 we put her into a football club group and she was going feral. After a few weeks of it it did get better but now she’s 3 she remembers everything so she loves it. It’ll come in time mama! X

I’d honestly let him be. They’re really young to be sitting at listening. It’s normal to explore.

21 months is still very young. Being able to sit and listen is a big skill to have at that age. It could also be that he's more of a hands-on, active learner. I'm 31 and STILL can't absorb information if it's given verbally, lol, I have to either read it or just get in there and do it 🤷‍♀️
