Nappy change tantrum

My 2 year old is refusing nappy changes and it turns into a full blown tantrum where he just wants me to let him go to play. I deal with the wet nappies quickly and do standing changes for most of these but I need him to lay down for the poopy nappies. I used to be able to convince him to come to the change table but now he just wants to get up straight away. Even if he gets a toy, he wants to run away with it instead of lying down. I'm not sure he's quite ready for toilet training yet as hes still building on his communication skills. Although I'm beginning to feel like I'll have to start sooner rather than later. Maybe it'll help with nappy changes. Hows everyome's experiences with this so far?

I feel like at this age it’s quite normal, my little one is similar. Sometimes I sing or play some music on my phone (I don’t give him the phone but put it down nearby so he can hear it) and that can help. We’ve start introducing the potty and although he doesn’t really use it he is getting used to the idea of it.

My son just turned 2 and I’ve been giving him the phone for every nappy change since he was around 18 months because of this reason. What’s 2 minutes of screen time while we wipe some bum? It makes him happy and my life soo much easier. We both say bye to the phone once we’re done and there’s no fuss at all. Do what you gotta do Mum 🩷
