we got a hotel every night of our trip and that helped a lot. Maybe incorporating a hotel in your trip would help as well! Good luck!
We just took a trip to Vegas it’s an 8 hour drive. On the way there we drove at night so she would sleep through most of it but in the way back we drove during the day which was a bit harder. I ended up sitting in the back with her and kept her entertained. I had stuff for bottles n I would feed her when she was hungry. I had my husband stop the car every 2 hours to let her stretch n change her diaper.
Does it help if you sit in the back with her? You could also see, if you’re still using the infant bucket seat, you can upgrade her to her next car seat, the convertible rear facing one and see if she likes that better. I know it’s more annoying because you can’t carry them in the car seat but I’ve heard some babies do much better with the bigger seat. Just make sure it’s graded for her size but many of them are.
I just made a trip to Florida and back. My baby boy did wonderful. Much better than I thought, he doesn’t mind his car seat too much. Towards the end of the 19 hour drive he got cranky and just wanted to stretch out. The biggest tip I can give you as an always traveling mom with 4 is to take your time and stop, get them out for a bit to play and stretch and eat and change every time you stop for gas and potty. We did make a pit stop and stay in a hotel instead of driving straight through like we normally do. After the babies are a year I won’t even bother grabbing a hotel if we have enough drivers to switch. Another tip, if you like traveling, from day one with all 4 of mine we go on a weekend trip once a month to my parents (5 hours) that gets them acclimated to the car ride and traveling.
Hello! My boyfriend and I just moved to OK from CA with a teething five month old! I don’t know if your LO is teething but children’s tylenol helped with that and allowed him comfort especially because he doesn’t like his car seat either, of course I didn’t pump him full of it but when he was very visibly in pain I gave him some (doctor recommended) . I made sure to incorporate toys with lights and noise to keep him entertained and that worked well. I found that if he was crying for a period of time it was out of discomfort and he simply wanted to eat or stretch so we made plenty of pit stops doing those things to make sure he was comfortable. After a couple hours they get used to being in the car seat. I also made sure to keep the cover of the car seat back so he could see the outside through the window and watch the vehicles pass by and get to see all the scenery since he is very curios and wants to see everything! Our trip in total was 22 hours and we broke it up in three days.
