@Chloe please can I ask which brand of formula you use? I've tried to look online if there is one brand that is most likely breast milk to introduce maybe one bottle a day but can't find anything online about which is best for combi feeding x
I use kendamil, but I remember my friend said she used aldis because she felt it was a thinner consistency like breast milk is
Totally get yr feeling. I’m in the same boat and truthfully feeling a ton of mom guilt hence one of the reasons I have not transitioned completely. My LO have been having combo of everything since his early days (was in special care for his early few days of life and we’ve been feeding him formula so my bm never caught up). We had gone through a few formula and some were really harsh on his stomach - aptamil advanced for example as these had probiotics. We thought it’d be the best/ better ones to have but he had been hysterical with stomach pains. We changed to other simpler formulas and now seem to be settled on sma advanced and if I’m honest I think it tastes more similar to breast milk. He takes bottles no bother but I’ve slowly pumped less intervals and rather let him latch directly and top up w formula instead. Hopefully after his 16 week immunisation I will feel much more at ease to transition fully. Happy to chat further here too if ur up for it. It’s not easy and I get it.
By the way about the gas it could be completely just normal as their stomachs still adjusting but we’ve been advised to give infacol at each feed and is been working well. I plan to give him the infacol until 12 weeks then will reassess if he still needs it.
@Jovan The guilt is so real isn’t it 😭 we’ve been giving him Kendamil and he seems like a perfectly happy boy for the most part aside from the increase in gas. The gas doesn’t seem to be causing him any pain, it just wakes him in the night if he’s having trouble getting it out and then I spiral that upping the amount of formula will only make it worse 🫠. I’m going to continue as I am just very gradually moving towards transitioning fully and hope that makes things a bit easier and that the gas is just a normal part of the transition
Hey, my little girl has had either 1 or 0 formula feeds a day since birth. I've mixed up the times of these in the last 10 almost 11 weeks. And I find she's gassier on a night regardless of whether the last feed was breast milk or formula. We've been doing formula on a night for a while as it improved sleep. I've still been pumping on a night and freezing it so she can have breast milk a little longer after I quit pumping. I feel like I'm ready to make the move to just formula, I just don't want to regret it so I keep second guessing myself. There have been a few days where I couldn't pump in the day and so shes had an extra formula, and not noticed any difference. Happy to chat more as we both go through the same thing if you like
