Milk

Heya, I feel bad my 13 month old is still on formula. I gave him milk once and he was awake crying until midnight so I was worried he had an intolerance and stopped. Do you all heat the milk when you give it? How long for? And do how much do you give? My boy loves formula and would drink 6/7oz. Thank you

Have you tried gradually swapping out 1 oz of formula for 1oz cows milk over the space of two weeks?

My 14 month year old was the same but I started to add little blue milk each formula bottle I made and now will dry a bottle of it :)

I give my son milk during the day, I found warming it up and giving it to him in a bottle helped but he still wakes up during the night for a bottle so he has formula overnight. My health visitor said there’s no point trying to swap him at night until he’s only walking for one bottle at night

I still give mine formula on a night, he won’t drink water, so he has cows milk for his nap and one before bed. Then formula during the night. He’s on 9oz bottles. I wouldn’t stress yet and just try a gradual swap little at a time

There’s a lot about cows milk actually not being good for human consumption. My lg has a cows milk allergy though so I make her fresh almond, oat or walnut milk and just make sure she gets lots of other fluids like water, diluted tea, diluted juice, veggie juice and she’s still on one 8oz bottle of formula, every babies different, there’s no need to feel bad and beat yourself up, it seems like you’re attentive and listening to your babies needs💛

Thank you all. I think I need to start gradually increasing cows milk into formula Bottles to see how that goes. Why do you sometimes give formula at night but cows milk in the day? Is there a difference with this? He sometimes wakes for one bottle in the night. Thank you

Personally I give formula at night and cows milk in the day because frankly he won’t drink cows milk or water at night 😂. Our health visitor told us that the slowly mixing cows milk & formula is “against guidelines” and could give him a poorly tummy (he has quite a sensitive stomach so take that as you will as to whether your child would be the same) It’s also for the ease, he has 2-3 bottles of milk at night still and it’s a lot less disturbing to his sleep for him to have formula rather then wait for me to go downstairs and warm cows milk up

I still do formula on a night because nhs advice not to give more than 500-600ml of cows milk so once he’s had his two in the day he has the formula in the night. He’s refuses to drink water unless he’s very very thirsty but even then it’s a fight. I’ve tried other things he’s just not interested and I’d rather know he’s drinking formula than nothing at all. Plus since his injections his appetite dropped so formula gives me peace of mind that he’s still getting the goodness he needs daily

My nearly 3yo still has formula every now and then, and we only introduced cows milk when she was over 2 years of age, no need to feel bad.. My 13 month old doesn't drink cows milk but will have it in food (weetabix, pancakes etc).

We did a gradual oz by oz swap to cows milk, he used to have 7oz formula & now he had 7oz cows milk! I ping it in microwave for 30ish seconds just to take the cold edge off x
