Tooth pain

Hi all, my 3 old is complaining his tooth hurts on and off, when I look there is no sign of decay. Is there anything else this could be? He has all his teeth so it’s definitely not a new tooth coming. Only thing I can think of is he fell the other day and banged his mouth, but the sore tooth isn’t really in the area he hurt himself.
