Formula Screw Up - Help

So we bought the pitcher to pre mix formula and have been mixing it wrong for about a week. It’s 36oz. We accidentally did 36 oz x 8.7g. Not remembering the 8.7g is for 2oz NOT 1oz. Essentially we’ve been giving baby double the formula that he needs. Thankfully we realized sooner than later but I’m worried about baby taking in more formula than he should. He’s been eating, pooping and peeing normally but should I be concerned or take him to doctor regarding this?? I know we are dumb af so I don’t need people telling us that just want to know if anyone has experience or knowledge regarding this. Thanks in advance ❤️‍🩹

I’d call your pediatrician but when my daughter was little and couldn’t gain weight we were told to give her “extra calories” formula which was more powder per oz of water. They said they do this with little preemies to help them gain weight. I wouldn’t worry too much but definitely call the pediatrician and let them know, just to be safe

As long as all functions are functioning normally, there is likely no cause for concern. The pediatrician has heard it all, so definitely feel free to call to make sure if that would make you feel better. And one week is such a miniscule time frame in the grand scheme of things, that there is very little chance you've done something catastrophic. ❤️ Be kind to yourself!

hey, don't beat yourselves up, mistakes happen! if he’s eating, pooping, and peeing normally, he’s probably fine, but it might be a good idea to check in with your doc just to be safe. ❤️ Just looked it up on the 'Heal Baby Care App' and here’s what it says: "It's understandable to be concerned, but it sounds like your baby is doing well with normal eating, pooping, and peeing, which is reassuring. While giving double the formula for a short period may not be ideal, most babies can handle some variations in feeding without immediate harm. Keep an eye on your baby for any unusual symptoms like excessive fussiness, vomiting, or changes in bowel movements. If you notice anything concerning or if you're still worried, it’s always best to consult a healthcare professional for peace of mind.
