Constipated newborn baby
I just gave birth 2nd March. Baby has a tongue tie so it was difficult for him to breastfeed so I was giving him Kendamil ready made formula. He pood in the hospital, then once the next day but hasn’t pood since and his tummy is very hard. My milk came in today and I’ve stopped the
formula incase that’s what’s causing it. Do you guys think the formula caused it? He still hasn’t pood yet and it’s been 12hours
since he last had formula.
From my experience the ready made bottles are actually good for making them poo. My baby is on kendamil powder and this caused constipation his first few days on it whilst his system was getting used to it. We were advised to give him a ready to feed bottle as they are richer and act like a laxative so we did and right enough he poo’d. He has now settled into the powder formula and poo’s regularly. Formula fed babies can go over 24hours without a poo so I was told. I was advised to reach out to the midwife if he went 48hours but thankfully he did poo before then. It could just be your baby getting used to the formula. Their wee digestive systems are brand new at this so it can take them a few days to get used to whatever you’re feeding them x
