Calpol in formula

Our little man has had his 8 week vaccinations today so we've started administering Calpol. He spat a lot of it out when I've tried with his last syringe. Google says not to mix it with formula because if they don't finish the bottle, they won't get the full dose, but he never fails to finish a bottle. Has anyone else done it??

I have but not after vaccination.

Not a good idea I'm afraid. You shouldn't mix formula with medication. My GP told me if the baby spit out the Calpol, he still got a bit, so to give half dose. Also your baby needs to get use to it, better keep trying. Try putting the syringe in the corner of his mouth, at the back without make him gag of course. Good luck , it will get better

Get a bottle teat and put the calpol in that and let him suck it out from the teat. I’ve seen someone do that xx

^^ also what we do, use the bottle teat, works a charm xx

Can’t comment on mixing it, but I used to sit my daughter up against my legs, give her the calpol and then blow gently in her face then she would swallow. Not tried it with my son yet but it worked with her nearly every time x

I never tried it at 8 weeks but my son is 2 and will absolutely not take calpol, spews & cries if I try 🫠😂 I put calpol in his milk anytime he needs I would always just act under the assumption he’s had the full dose and not give anymore until the next 4 hour dose etc x

@Caitlin I heard this and mentioned to health visitor and she told me not to do this, but didn't give a reason! I wonder why as it sounds like it works well?
