Nursery keen to send home

Hello :) please would someone help. My lo only goes to nursery once a week but we find they are very eager to send her home. It feels weekly at the moment.. I appreciate if she is poorly but once it was because she just wasn’t herself and they thought it was teething ? Today because loose stools and slight temp but she always has loose stools when teething and also a slight temp. Does anyone have experience of this from their children or from working in one ?

Hello, nursery practitioner here, with loose stools it’s mostly policy to send them home just in case it’s a stomach bug that can spread.. and trust me as someone whose entire team just recovered from one… they can be bad and go around the room very quickly The one where she is not herself depends on context. We try our best not to send a child home but if they have a fever and calpol has been given with no change we do have do sen them home or are very inconsolable we might ask parents if it’s possible to come collect just so the child doesn’t develop negative associations from being in nursery. X

That’s super helpful thank you very much xxx

Our policy is if they have 2 or more loose stools they would be excluded for 48 hours (same for sickness). If they have a temperature we can give calpol and if the temp reduces and child is well in themselves they can stay but if it doesn't reduce or if they are unable to take part in everyday activities then we would send them home. With teething we would work with the parents to do what we can, give teething gels, calpol etc where needed but again if they child is not well enough to participate in everyday activity or is needing 1:1 care we would ask you to collect xx

Thanks a lot ❤️
