Cows milk allergy

Hi 👋🏻 is anyone able to recommend a dairy free baby formula that is easily available in most supermarkets and close to Aptamil, if possible? (Suspected CMPA as of today!) We have been advised to buy “SMA Wysoy” but it seems there are manufacturing issues and so I can’t seem to find anywhere …. Thank u!

SMA have stopped making their soy based one (was told by a nutritionist yesterday) I don’t think you can buy from the supermarket as you need a prescription

There won’t really be anything ‘close go aptamil’ because the formula’s are extensively hydrolysed. Pepti and many of the cmpa milks (nutramigen, sma althera etc) still contain milk proteins just more broken down so it is a bit of trial and error to see which one works for your baby. If none of them work or the allergy is severe then you need to look at an amino acid based formula like neocate or sma alfamino. Did you doctor advise you to buy it?

Thank u for this! We saw a paediatrician today who then liaised with a dietician and the advice was to buy “wysoy” to which I googled and realised there wasn’t any so I’m not sure why it was suggested or if perhaps the info hasn’t quite filtered through to the hospital?! …. All the names of milk are new to me as she’s been onAptamil since day 3 and now they are saying it’s a possible dairy allergy and she needs this soya based milk …. It’s a minefield to me what’s needed but I will give the GP a call tomorrow and see if they can direct me to the correct formula 😵‍💫

@Leanne it’s so strange that they didn’t prescribe it 🤦🏼‍♀️ I had a call with a dietician on Wednesday and we were discussing the different milks and she said SMA aren’t making that milk anymore and they currently don’t know if they will start to do it again in the future of not. 50-60% of children with cmpa also have a soya intolerance so it doesn’t seem like the best type to me tbf (I am not an expert though obviously) Definitely speak to your gp, pepti 1 is much more palatable than nutramigen but it does still contain milk proteins just more hydrolysed so it may not be the correct milk for your baby. There is a lot of trial and error unfortunately

My son had suspected CMPA and we were advised to try aptamil comfort

My daughter is on Aptamil Pepti 2, I get it on prescription, you shouldn’t have to pay for it!! We saw a dietitian who informed my GP of what to prescribe us xx
