Potty training at night

My oldest has been waking up dry more often than not. When did you know your kiddo was ready to go diaper free at night?

You never really know for sure… you just gotta go for it! We layered fitted sheets with waterproof pads between each layer so if she had an accident in the night one parent would change the bed and one would change the toddler. We only had to do it a few times before she was waking up every day dry and sometimes even waking in the night to go potty!

@Jill that's a great idea. thank you 😊 we were looking at [essentially] puppy pads that stick to the bed sheets 🤷 might give those a try too

You can get a pack of washable/reusable pads off amazon for about the same cost of a pack of disposable puppy pads! That’s where we got ours!

Like you, my daughter was dry most nights. And then we just kept using the diapers until we ran out. By then, she was ready! We only ever had one accident, and it was months later.

I’ve heard that night time dryness is actually a hormonal bodily reaction not a like decision that they actively make, so the odds are pretty good aside from the occasional accident!

Get waterproof bed sheet. Start with underwear underneath pull up to help them wake up when they pee. After a week, remove the pull up. Be prepared to switch sheets at night. No liquid after dinner. Potty before bed. It took 3 weeks and my daughter was done before 3. It’s not the same for every kid. Be patient and good luck.

@jae wovenex (i think that the brand) makes waterproof pads that we just lay on top of the fitted sheet.
