Toys

I feel like as my little one gets older he’s getting less interested in his toys n I think the main issue is that he’s getting bored of them. But what toys would you recommend for a 21 month old with suspected autism?

Does he have anything he's interested in? My boy loves animals and will just line them up. He's also loving jigsaws, animal jigsaws are his favourite

My son like balls and water play table that’s it

@Amy he doesn’t specifically have any interests yet…apart from the wiggles on tv 🫠.

@Sam I’m planning on getting on for the summer bc at mums he’s always playing with the dogs water 😂

Mine does the same! 😂😂😂 how funny

Ah yeah, my son went through a big TV stage where it would be a meltdown if it wasn't on 🙈 If he likes wiggles and water, you could get a tuff tray and change it each day or so with those themes? E.g sink or float, or draw pictures of some songs they sing on wiggles to sing together etc? If you tie his interests into the activity it should (hopefully) help 🤞

My son at that point had harder to pinpoint interests. He’s also been into connecting things so he liked links or toys that would connect.

Have you tried setting out the 1 or 2 toys he does play with and hiding the rest? You can then switch the toys every other week so they are "new".

Lego (large pieces) & puzzles anything with a challenge they thrive with! 🩷
