Travel with U.S citizen toddler

Hi moms! I’m in the process of adjusting my legal status (getting my green card) and I want to travel from Chicago to Colorado with my toddler, I’m kinda scared bc of everything that is going on around. Has anybody in my situation traveled like this? If so, what did you take as proof of ID for you and your baby? I have my country passport and visa (expired a while ago) and have my baby’s passport as well

Hi! Not in your situation, but did travel recently with my 4 mos baby. I took the train and also flew. Train / Amtrak only verifies your ticket, and did not check for either id. 10/10 recommend Amtrak anytime it will get you where you need to go (but it can be spotty going west from Chicago, does not stop in all larger cities, limited departure times, and yet, Chicago does have some of the most destinations.) Flew back to Chicago - TSA did NOT verify baby’s id (I had birth certificate with me, we don’t have a passport yet), just that we had a boarding pass/ticket for her. However, if you have a toddler who may be closer to the 24 mos, they’re more likely to check for id to make sure they are not flying in a lap when above that limit. Hoping this makes sense! All to say, I would travel with your child’s passport and a copy of a birth certificate that connects you together. For your own id, idk. I don’t want to say don’t fly, but also 😔😔 Feel free to message me privately also

Also not experienced with this, but I worked in immigration for a few years and have friends that are not US citizens. I would be careful with bringing anything expired. I have a close friend that’s an immigration attorney, if you want me to ask her, I can!

You're brave! If I were you l would be scared too but I wouldn't be making any moves atm with any expired paperwork or visa. But it's like you're asking for real big problems...Unless you are driving there..but it sounds like you are trying to get on a plane? Smh 🙄Girl don't use common sense after the fact use common sense right now
